Understanding ADHD and It’s Impact

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects attention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity. These challenges often disrupt daily life, school performance, work responsibilities, and relationships.

ADHD affects individuals of all ages, but symptoms may manifest differently:

  • Children may struggle with sitting still, following instructions, or maintaining focus in school.

  • Teens often face challenges with organization, time management, and emotional regulation.

  • Adults may experience difficulties in maintaining productivity, managing responsibilities, or sustaining attention during tasks.

The good news is that ADHD is treatable. With expert care, including medication management, individuals can learn to manage symptoms effectively and thrive in all aspects of life.

Understanding the Different Types of ADHD

Inattentive Presentation

Individuals with this type often struggle with focus, organization, and completing tasks. They may appear forgetful or easily distracted, but hyperactivity is not a significant symptom.

Hyper-Active Impulse Presentation

This type is characterized by excessive energy, difficulty sitting still, and impulsive actions, such as interrupting conversations or making decisions without thinking.

Combined Presentation

The most common type, where individuals experience a mix of inattentive and hyperactive-impulsive symptoms. This presentation can make daily life particularly challenging due to the wide range of symptoms.
